Maa Shri Kalka Ji Mandir, Delhi

Hindu temple Shri Kalkaji Mandir, sometimes referred to as Kalkaji Temple, is devoted to the goddess Kali. Her temple (mandir) is located in Kalkaji, a neighborhood that takes its name from the temple, in the southern region of Delhi, India. It is next to the Nehru Place commercial district. The Kalkaji Mandir (Delhi Metro) line connects to Nehru Place bus terminal and Okhla railway station, both of which are close to the temple.

Goddess Kali is honored in the temple known as Kalkaji Mandir. The neighborhood of Kalkaji, which is in South Delhi, is named after the temple. One of Delhi's busiest Hindu temples is Kalkaji Mandir. It is said that those who worship the goddess Kali succeed in everything they set out to do. As a result, Kalkaji Mandir is also referred to as "Jayanti Peetha" and "Manokamana Sidha Peetha". Manokamna Siddha and Peetha both refer to the fulfillment of desires.

The temple receives hundreds of visitors every day, and the neighborhood has outstanding connectivity and social infrastructure. Kalkaji is also flanked by upscale communities like Green Park and Greater Kailash, raising the area's real estate profile.

Temples to visit during Navratri

Kalkaji Mandir History

Many people think Kalkaji Mandir is older than 3000 years. Pandavas and Kauravas visited this temple during the Mahabharata era to pray to Goddess Kali.

If we look further back in time, two demons caused difficulties for the gods who lived nearby the location of the Kalkaji Mandir. The gods contacted Lord Brahma for assistance in defeating these demons, and he advised them to consult Goddess Parvati. When Goddess Parvati heard their cries, Kaushiki Devi (woman of the cell) spontaneously appeared from her mouth. Despite the fact that Kaushiki Devi defeated these demons, their blood was spilled throughout the conflict. As a result, numerous additional demons were born. When Kaushiki Devi saw an army of demons, she knit her brows, causing Goddess Kali to appear from her forehead.

In addition to killing the demons and consuming their blood, Kali triumphed. Goddess Kalika made the decision to live where Kalkaji Mandir is now at the whim of the gods. The temple has since grown to be one of the country's oldest temples.

Over time, the temple experienced a number of changes. The oldest part of Kalkaji Mandir, though much older, is thought to have been constructed by the Marathas in or around 1764 AD. The Peshkar of Akbar and Mirza Raja Kidar Nath added a lot in 1816. Kalkaji Mandir was surrounded by a sizable number of Dharamshalas throughout the latter half of the 20th century.
