Parvati's mother faints at the sight of the ash-covered body, snakes around the neck, the knotted Jatedhari Shiva, accompanied by demons, ghouls, ganas, sages, aghoris, and a strange procession. Those attending the wedding are shocked to see Shiva's form and his ganas. Seeing this, Parvati transforms into a moon bell in a terrifying form so as not to embarrass Shiva.

In case of marriage:
On the occasion of marriage Goddess Parvati performs severe penance and succeeds in marrying Lord Shiva. Shiva enters Parvati's palace with the Ganas of Kailasa on the occasion of the wedding. Goddess Parvati's mother faints at the sight of Shiva, who looks so terrifying. Then Parvati appears before Shiva in the form of Chandraghanta and requests Shiva to take the form of a prince. Thus Shiva's marriage to Parvati takes place after Shiva takes the form of a handsome groom.
In order to defeat the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, Goddess Parvati incarnates as Kaushiki. Kaushiki's very form was a sign of the destruction of Rakshasas. When Kaushiki disagrees and Dhumralochana attacks, the enraged mother Kaushiki kills Dhumralochana with a mere 'hoomkara'.
